Quality of Life (QoL) studies have shown the importance to patients and providers alike, as well as the increase in successful prognoses, when the provider incorporates the patient's quality of life traits into the prognosis. The problem is that the medical world does not know how to define the qualities of life traits of their patients. When a doctor only has ten minutes to spend with a patient, it is economically unfeasible to attempt this endeavor. The medical education teaching of "clinical distance" to avoid emotional decay, creates another hardship into learning about the patient's QoL.
The supporting material below cries out for "Everybody Needs A Hippo", which can be successful in gaining the QoL of patients in a group setting with a nurse and paid for with individual "End of Life" planning visits, paid for by Medicare. Then, the use of "Your Dag Chart" fits into the ten minute visit and can offer a helping hand to the prognosis.
